Gettin' Open-with EdDaDrama

Today we get open on the PPV itself. We know who won and who lost, but since I watched the PPV we'll take a closer look at things plus you'll get a rating for each match and the PPV itself.

About the IC title match...
Dolph Ziggler vs Kofi Kingston being stopped by NXT foiled what would've been a really good match. SUMMERSLAM is known for IC title changes, but more importantly, it's known for really good IC title matches. This match was good before it got cut. I GIVE THIS MATCH ........
2 OUT OF 5.

About the Diva's Championship...Alicia Fox got schooled from the start, and barely put up a decent match vs Melina. Too bad. I've seen better from Alicia. She picked the wrong night to botch things up. Glad Melina is champ.............
2 OUT OF 5.

About the Miz... It's not everyday that you could watch a PPV and have a talk or interview segment as a major highlight...especially if nobody starts a fight in the talk segment. But the MIZ is an exception to that rule. The Miz was out there for a good 5 mins. talkin' about whether or not he would join team WWE vs the Nexus. And in a "Lebron James" kind of way, he finally announced that he would in fact join. The fan went crazy. Who knew that this heel could turn so many heads? I can't believe this but........this talk segment gets 5 OUT OF 5!

Big Show vs SES...Nothin' fancy here, but quite an entertaining match. Seems to me that the SES is loosin' some steam..but that's a different story. 3 OUT OF 5.

The World Heavyweight Championship...
For me, this was the match of the night.
Rey tried to keep this a competitive match, but Kane was way too much on this night. Very entertaining match, with a return of the Undertaker at the end....and Kane whooped his ass too. 4 OUT OF 5.

The WWE Championship...Not that I'm surprised about what happened, but when you consider that on paper, THIS could've been the match of the night...this match fell a bit short of that. An overall very decent match that felt more like A MAIN EVEN MATCH AT A MONDAY NIGHT RAW, than a title match at Summerslam.
This match gets 3 OUT OF 5.

Team WWE vs Nexus...For a match that WWE forced on us to make us believe that IT was the MAIN EVENT....the match itself did at least meet my expectations. The return of NXT rookie Daniel Bryan was well received. I'm not sold on NXT as a group, but they did provide a worthy match. This reminded me of the WCW/ECW alliance vs Team WWE from back in the day.
4 OUT OF 5.

WHAT WAS MISSIN' FROM SUMMERSLAM...was The Miz in a match....of any sort. Not only did he NOT compete in the match vs Nexus, but he also didn't cash in his MONEY IN THE BANK contract to beat Sheamus...even after Orton laid the jar of Mayo out cold. Oh yeah....the Miz is the US champion...but we didn't get to see him defend that title either.

SummerSlam was good, but not worthy of the BIG PPV status that it has along with Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series. This ppv gets a 3 OUT OF 5.

THE RANT EPISODE 153 GOES LIVE TONIGHT ON BLOG TALK RADIO...
This week, we will give an update on the latest new in the world of professional wrestling. Including talk about what happened at WWE SummerSlam. We will also discuss the passing of Lance Cade at the age 29. Gettin' Open-with EdDaDrama

Welcome Ladies and Gents, to a Post-WWE Money in
The Bank edition of Gettin' Open with EddaDrama!

About the PPV.... I was pleased with the actual
MITB Ladder Matches. We had exciting, and
Dynamic moves being done while still finding
innovative ways to use the Ladders. Even the Diva
matches did nicely for the PPV. The only flaw I
saw was the very end of the PPV AFTER Sheamus
won. Cena beatin' up on Antonio Tarver and Darren Young looked like too small of a constellation for loosing out on the championship. I'll give Money In the Bank...a 4...out of 5!

Gettin' Open-with EdDaDrama

Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen, to a Star Spangled, Holiday edition of Gettin' Open with EddaDrama!

I'm takin' a break from WWE and TNA for a bit this week, so here's what's on my mind...

With the "Lebron James Show" happening in the NBA's free agent period, I'm very excited to see that the NY Knicks have made themselves a big splash in the market by pickin' up Suns big man Amar'e Stoudemire. I'm keepin' my fingers crossed on THE big move that everyone wants for their Basketball team... The decision that LeBron makes. Either way though, I'm very excited for the Knicks right now.

Over the weekend, Former WWE Champion and Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, defended his title against then, interim champion, Undefeated Shane Carwin. Big Deal? You bet! Brock is more than a former Pro Wrestler. Brock is a REAL wrestler. The more you wanna keep Many had Brock beat before that match began. Lesnar was only 5-1. The beef was that Brock didn't "earn" his way to the top. Brock was even labeled a "paper champion", even though he defeated one when he beat Frank Mir. Fact is...BROCK LESNAR IS THE BEST IN THE HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION. The only reason he's been out this long was because his life was threatened, and he was smart enough to step aside and get the treatment he needed before stepin' back in the Octagon. It's time for the masses in MMA to really take note. Brock Lesnardissin' Brock off, then the more you're really dissin' off the rest of UFC, or MMA all together. If you really wanna point at a dude who got a push and hasn't earned his way to anything, then point at Kimbo Slice. You want proof that gettin' a push don't mean a thing if you can't win the big fight?...then look there. Leave Lesnar alone!

Gettin' Open-with EdDaDrama

Welcome Ladies and Gents, to a Post-WWE Fatal 4 Way edition of Gettin' Open with EddaDrama!

You know what's good! By now, we know about who
won at the PPV. Today we brush on the overall
PPV itself, and discus the what each win/loss
means for the WWE Superstars...Let's get it!

About Fatal 4 Way...

I'll give credit here in saying that this PPV turned out better than I expected it to.Nobody can call this on "predictable". I missed ALL of my picks on this PPV. What was a bit predictable though, was the invasion by NXT or N7. This of course lead to us having a NEW
Doubleya Doubleya E Champion. LOL! That said,
it's the change in champions that will be the gamble here. I'll take it, and give Fatal 4 Way, a 4 out of 5!

So what now? Let's look at the champs...
Sheamus is WWE champion. Winning at Fatal 4 Way was big for him. Since taking out HHH, Sheamus
has done just enough to stay in the "Big Spotlight". THIS win shows that he deserves to be there.
And any talk about this win being a
fluke because of NXT can go to rest. NXT invading don't mean nothin'. If Cena would've won, C-Nation would've said that he won despite all odds. If Orton did, then, he would have
been in the right place at the right time. God forbid that Edge would've won. This would've been another example of him being the "ultimate opportunist". So if it's supposed to be cool for those guys to win under the same conditions, then I don't mind Sheamus winning like that one little bit.

"AaaaawwwSooommeee!" The Miz was impressive at
Fatal 4 Way in landing a Clean Pin on R-Truth in
order to defend his US title! This win is huge for Miz. Remember, his last title run was plagued with him also going back and forth with Big Show as Tag Team champs. Now with the Tag Titles out of the way, Miz can focus on the US title, and perhaps bigger and better things. Dude got the mic skills now!...and he seems to STILL be learning as far as wrestling is concerned...that's really good news.
..And as for R-Truth...With the positive momentum he's had since being drafted to RAW, Truth has made himself a contender. Now with more exposure, it's time to get a new song....really. It's time dude! Without keepin' his gimmick fresh, his popularity WILL
die down reguardless of wrestling skill. If anything else, Truth could simply stop rappin' altogether and still get by on dancing down the isle. Just a thought.

On Smackdown...
Kane has lost it!! If he keeps this up, he
won't have to wait for Undertaker to come back
and take him out....Big Show will do it first!
Kane's interference has lead to Rey Mysterio
becoming NEW World Heavyweight Champion.

This win is HUGE for Rey. Now a 2 time champ,
he shows that he can dance with the "Big Boys".
And all thoughts of Rey being done as a top
contender have been greatly exaggerated. With a
feud still looming with CM Punk, and now perhaps
Jack Swagger, Smackdown should be very entertaining.
As for Swagger...What I didn't like about his
title run here is that he lost his Swagger from the moment he won the title. This was not the same
dude who was ECW Champion. Tryin' to be

serious didn't work for him. Cocky and confident is Swagger...C'mon Jack, get'cha swagger up!

Despite his best efforts, Drew McIntyre lost at
Fatal 4 Way to Koffi Kingston. If I were Teddy
Long though, I may wanna wipe that smirk off my
face by this Thursday. Between failing to make
a 3 count on a downed Kingston, AND THEN
allowing Matt Hardy to hit him with a Twist of
Fate, Teddy Long has much to answer for. Big
Picture,..Drew is still the "chosen one". I
won't be surprised if he gets a World Title shot
in a month or two. For now, both Kingston and
Teddy better watch out!
And about the IC champ...Kingston has had big
success since being drafted to Smackdown. In
general it looks like he got the IC title on lock.
Still, Drew McIntyre seems to have a key

for that lock. Kofi should take as many pictures
with his title while he can.

EddaDrama's picks for WWE Fatal 4 Way!

What's really good my peeps! I got the fever, so here it is...My official picks for the next PPV, WWE Fatal 4 Way...

This card provided by The Rant's Myspace.

WWE Fatal 4 Way
LIVE! This Sunday, June 20, 2010 from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York
Official Theme Song is Showstopper by Toby Mac
*Card Subject To Change
© = Current Champion

Fatal Four Way Match -
WWE Championship -
John Cena© vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Sheamus
EddaDrama Says... You gotta like this match on paper. Sheamus has really come along as a top heel on RAW. No surprise that Edge would make an impact straight outta the WWE Draft. You just worry about RKO. All that said, if the match goes as advertised, then I'm pickin' Cena to win.

Fatal Four Way Match -
World Heavyweight Championship -
Jack Swagger vs. Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk vs. The Big Show
EddaDrama Says... It kinda hurts that Undertaker has to sit out with and injury. (don't tell nobody). With that said, having Mysterio take his place was a good idea. Rey and Punk have unfinished business as long as he's wearin' that stupid mask to cover his bald head.
One side of me though thinks that Jack Swagger is due a clean pinfall victory, and I won't be surprised if that happens. The side I'm gonna go on though is on Big Show. In my eye, Undertaker was an odd on favorite. Now that's out the window. Plus, it's about time...it's been too long since the big guy has had the title.

Fatal Four Way Match -
WWE Diva's Championship -
Eve Torres© vs. Gail Kim vs. Maryse vs. Alicia Fox
EddaDrama Says... No doubt that Maryse is the No.1 contender here, but how many times are we supposed to watch Eve vs Maryse? Fatal 4 Way makes a good excuse to put 2 other contenders in the mix. Alicia Fox has seemed to step up a bit...gettin' a little push as of late. Gail Kim could get lucky. My guess though is that this is still between Eve and Maryse. I'll Pick Eve.

WWE United States Championship Match -
The Miz© vs. R-Truth
EddaDrama Says... Several weeks ago we had these two go at it for the then vacant US title. Truth won in a very good match. That match did two things...It showed that Miz is not just talk. This match also put R-Truth on the map. Now what's better than this happening on RAW? How about on a PPV! THAT is why this US title isn't involved in a fatal 4 way match like everything else. If this match is as good as what we saw on RAW, then it's an instant success...that's what both stars, and the WWE is lookin' for. I pick R-Truth for the win, but I'm not sleepin' on the Miz.
