Yes...your dude is back, and a lot has happened since I've been away. Forgive me for a sec. I got big news today that my NY football Jets just picked up the Steelers star Wide receiver, Santonio Holmes in exchange for a 5Th round draft pick. Of course, there's more detail to this, but I'm very excited nonetheless.
Ok...on to some Wrestling. Now where to start? How bout the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. Jack Swagger.
Since winning the MITB ladder match at Mania, and cashing it in on Chris Jericho to become champ. There's been a lot of discussion about Swagger's credibility as new World Champ. A question I would have for the WWE Universe is, if not Swagger, then WHO should've won MITB? WHO should've then beaten Jericho to become World Champ? Would someone else really been more credible as champ right now? Personally I don't think so. Don't get me wrong. I had either former ECW Champ Christian to win, or even the Intercontinental Champ, Drew McIntyre. (Don't he look like he was trained by Randy Orton or somethin'?) Truth is, everyone had somethin' to prove in the ladder match. And if MITB does here what it has done in the past, taking stars to the top of the food chain....then the All American, American is poised and ready to cash in on the opportunity.
TNA Knockouts vs WWE Divas...
As of this post we actually have a NEW WWE Divas Champ...Eve Torres. Just last week we saw a new TNA Knockouts champion in Angelina Love. Both companies makin' moves...but this seems to be the one area where TNA shines. The TNA knockouts have been gettin' better since the inclusion of the Knockouts Tag Team Titles. At the same time, the WWE Divas have gone south. And it's lookin' more and more like WWE made a big mistake turning their heads on the real WWE Women Wrestlers in favor of the Diva friendly roster.
Back to TNA though... While the Knockouts are doin' their thing, the men still need a lot of work. Today' little "Pre Impact" show if you will, was very smart. This was a good way to recap last week's Impact show, and let people know what's in store for not only this week, but the upcoming PPV, LOCKDOWN. Equally as smart is the move to 8pm as opposed to the launched time of 9pm. It's still a 2 hr. show, but it's smart to come on before RAW instead of goin' head to head like Hogan first wanted to. By having their 7pm show before Impact...it's almost like having a 3hr. show anyway. TNA may want to keep this stuff goin' for awhile. This is a good way to get perhaps a new audience if not anything else.
